|Greg Brinkley, Evangelist|
Greg Brinkley—happily married to Crystal for nine years and father of one daughter, Amayah—has an extensive spiritual and ministerial resume that has enabled him to become one of the more respected and influential men in the body of Christ. Born and raised in the church of Christ, he was baptized at the age of 8 and began his walk with the Lord at the West Oakland congregation under the tutelage of his father, Dr. Carl Brinkley, and the leadership of Dorris Pitts. He moved with his family to EOCOC when his father became minister in 1987.
During the 30 years he has been at EOCOC, he has served as adult and teen Bible class teacher, youth director, praise & worship leader, member on the Board of Directors, associate minister, and now ministering evangelist. Although he preached his first sermon at age 12, he has been preaching the gospel consistently since 1990 and was ordained an evangelist in February 1995. His highly dynamic preaching style has been described as passionate, interactive, illustrative, thought-provoking, relevant to all ages, and life-transforming.
Brother Greg is a nationally known preacher, teacher, workshop facilitator, motivational speaker, praise & worship leader, singer, a cappella music composer, choral director, Christian hip-hop artist, budding theologian, and soon-to-be author. He has led and mentored several young men who have matriculated by the grace of God to become evangelists, deacons, youth ministers, and faithful men of God. He has also counseled numerous ministers, ministry workers, and worship leaders in becoming more effective and authentic leaders in the Kingdom.
His personal and ministerial mentors are all prominent men of God in the brotherhood: his father, Dr. Carl Brinkley; his father-in-law, George Williams (Eastside COC-Austin, TX); Willard Crigler (Normandie COC-LosAngeles, CA); Arnelious Crenshaw, Jr. (Northeast COC-Oklahoma City, OK); Fate Hagood III (Metropolitan COC-Carson, CA); and Jack Wooling (Southside COC-Richmond, CA).
Brother Greg is a graduate of Chabot College, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree. He graduated from California State University, Hayward in 1997, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development. He has also completed coursework in the Master of Divinity program at Lubbock Christian University, at the Golden Gate Bible Institute in South San Francisco, CA, and the East Oakland Bible Institute at EOCOC.
Brother Greg believes in East Oakland being excited, elevated, and empowered!
